Q: Can a chiropractor help with knee pain?

Chiropractic assessment looks at the knee and at contributing factors in the hip, pelvis, lower back, and foot. Depending on what is found, care may include soft tissue therapy, spinal or pelvic management, rehabilitation exercises, and movement guidance. Every case is different, and we assess each person individually.

Q: Can lower back or hip problems cause knee pain?

Yes. The knee does not function in isolation. Restriction or dysfunction in the hip or lower back can alter how load travels through the leg and contribute to knee pain. This is why we assess the whole lower limb and spine rather than focusing on the knee alone.

Q: What is the difference between runner’s knee and jumper’s knee?

Runner’s knee, or ITB friction syndrome, involves tightness of the iliotibial band causing irritation on the outer side of the knee, commonly during running or cycling. Jumper’s knee, or patellar tendinopathy, involves the tendon below the kneecap and is often associated with repetitive jumping or loading activities. Both are conditions we commonly assess and support.

Q: Do I need imaging before my appointment?

Not necessarily. We can carry out a thorough assessment without prior imaging. If we feel imaging would be helpful to better understand your situation, we will discuss that with you during your appointment.

Q: How long will it take to notice a difference?

This varies depending on the nature of the injury, how long it has been present, and how consistently care and home recommendations are followed. We discuss realistic expectations at your first visit based on your specific situation.

Q: Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. You can book directly with us online or by phone. If during your assessment we feel you would benefit from seeing another health professional, we will let you know.

Q: Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes. We accept all major health fund cards. We recommend checking your level of cover with your insurer before your visit.
